Welcome to South Korea!

Ahhh, my first post! Welcome to South Korea! As I've been in this country for a little over a week I have already seen innumerable just flat out strange things, I've decided to recap a bit why exactly I am here (yea, why again Joe?).

After graduating about a year and a half ago I still hadn't a real clue as to what exactly I had wanted to do. I had some vague idea of getting a good job, settling down with some pretty girl (then getting divorced), having 2.5 kids, a dog and white picket fence like most people but concurrently, never really felt that was what I REALLY wanted to do. So I just kind of wandered for a bit, applying here, applying there, making some money (and losing some) through affiliate online marketing until I stumbled upon a pretty interesting test. Essentially, the test would tell you what you REALLY wanted out of your life (at least right now).

It goes like this, every night write down the 10 things you want to do, and put them in order of how badly you want to do them. So, as far as I recall, mine went something like this....travel, various fitness goals, various financial goals, various social goals, learn a few new languages, run into my "soul-mate" (another topic in and of itself), blah blah blah. Now, do this for 2 straight weeks, EVERY night. After at least 2 weeks, you should be noticing that you put the same things generally in the same spots.

Well, for me I had noticed that I had re-arranged several of my goals, putting some higher and others lower every few nights. By the end of the 2nd week my list did not change, despite the fact that I did not look at my previous lists.

Every list that I had made for those 2 weeks I had put TRAVEL at the very top. It was the most important thing that I had wanted to do with my life. Not find an awesome job, or find an awesome girl just travel.

So, I quickly made the decision to come to Asia. I chose South Korea for a few reasons, most important of which was the ability to save money and proximity and ease of travel to other Asian countries.

And here I am, in the Hermit Kingdom.
